Wireframes & Mockups
Sometimes, what matters most is attaining consensus among stakeholders. That can often require rapid iteration. These are great tools for that.
Prototypes
At other times, the complexity of the topic can require a demonstration of the follow-through. Outside of software development, Prototypes are can sometimes be the only way to do that.
Workflows
Beyond the simple definition of what a feature is supposed to do, there’s a need for a story. Workflows help to track that.

Challenge
Design a better shopping cart and streamline the purchase process so that conversions require less time.
Solution
The bulk of the solution came from a view into the competition and learning what was being done in the market. How a product performed was graded by over 80 different criteria. Findings pointed toward the best features, and those were the ones that informed the design.

Challenge
North America Xerox and ACS were merging, and though each company had its HR communication to job searchers, they now had to be combined into a single message in a single area.
We started with card sorting to organize content and checked with other key competitor job sites to gauge quality.
Solution
We started with an audit of both current sites. We extracted content items through an Open Card Sorting exercise with the team. After the topical groups were identified, we executed a Closed Card Sorting exercise to establish where each element went. Remove the duplicates, and you have a new content structure!

Challenge
A common challenge for large websites that are accessed by. at a global level is for users of different languages and cultures reach the most valuable forms of content.
Search, for better or worse, is the fall-back flow. If users cannot quickly find what they desire from the page content they initiate a search.
Solution
We started by learning what the most common keywords were. After we established that these topics were important. I designed a visual language for how keyword matches could be presented more prominently while retaining the original results' behavior.

Evolved Market
Modern Shopping
This role had a lot of sleuthing. Xerox.com had the daunting task of remaining competitive amidst big eCommerce competitors such as Amazon, Staples, and Quill. We couldn’t just conjure an independent design from a vacuum. Instead, we had to take a hard look at our competitors, with an eye toward a best-of-class solution.
A great way to reach consensus across a wide range of experts is to simply walk-through a user’s experience. If designed well, there would be less of a need for facilitation.
Merging Cultures
When two massive divisions were directed to merge, there was quite a bit of content choreography and information architecture needed to avoid a train wreck. It required the kind of user research and usability methods that brought clear and noticeable improvements. Experience with participation wasn’t enough. What needed to be known was how to lead, facilitate, and in-the-end provide direction.
