Design
Challenge
Create a phone app that would allow users to shop, bid, and win products inside a live virtual event.
Solution
Starting with a previous product, we created a new design that included much of the features we wanted but couldn’t get. Following Google Material’s structure, we added a few nifty features that would delight our event attendees.
Prototypes
This screen-cast shows how the finished user experience behaves. We used AHA, as it is one of the more important (and vocal) clients.
This particular screen-cast was created with Facebook’s own Origami Studio because its scrolling behavior was the most realistic.

Wireframes
Like GGO, wireframes came in large plotter-sized schematics since there was a benefit for users to compare screens within a particular use case. It’s a great way to see how a product is shaping up.
Admittedly, the design did not favor printing as much as paperless distribution.
Supporting the Thought Leaders
So much of the product was designed to serve the needs of the company’s thought leaders. So much of their wisdom came from the areas where they operated. Areas like Customer Support, Professional Services and Sales.
Building on the Past
We did not start with nothing. We had a previous product, and how it performed helped us to plan the next generation. We learned the tiny details that had significant ramifications. Product traits that were confounding and yet critical for conversion. All these and more provided us with direction.
Continued Improvement
A great product can be graded by its ease of use. In the case of this product, we had one of the most potent forms of testing. Real Use. We refined as best we understood, and then releasing the product for various live events provided an invaluable window to learn and refine.
